Welcome to Cassell Prairie Bunnies
Hello, my name is Deborah Owens. I'd like to welcome you to the Cassell Prairie Bunnies website.I specialize only in Netherland Dwarf Rabbits. My husband and I live in rural Sauk City Wisconsin. We have 2 children, both grown and married with children as well. The area that we live in is surrounded by the Cassell Prairie Bluffs, which travels around the Wisconsin River. It is a beautiful area, and that is how we chose our rabbitry name.
We became very interested in Netherland Dwarfs when our daughter Jackie started in 4-H in 1988. The varieties we started with, were Silver Marten's and Chin's, and then went on to breed Himmies, Chestnuts, and Otters. Jackie is no longer showing, but I have since been raising and showing these beautiful little Gems for 23 years now! I love the rabbits as well as the all the friendships I have made through the years with people from all over the U.S; England and Japan.
I have a 35 hole rabbitry. It is small scale, but my goal is to produce quality not quantity. Because of the small rabbitry, I am able to give each individual rabbit a lot more attention and care. The colors I am currently producing are Chestnuts, as well as black, blue, chocolate and lilac Otters. I do occasionally have REWs and Blacks for sale that will come out of my lines.
Please take the time to view my website and see what I have to offer.

Owens' Eskimo Wins Gloria Fritsch
Memorial Trophy
Blackhawk Country Netherland Dwarf Rabbit Club held its spring double Open and Youth show on March 13th 2010, in Jefferson, Wi.
Wow !! Never in my wildest dream did I ever think I would win this Trophy!! The Gloria Fritsch Memorial Traveling Trophy is awarded to the best in show overall Netherland Dwarf Open Vs Youth (Show 1) This REW named Eskimo came out of my colored rabbits. I usually do not keep REW's, I will sometimes give them to youth breeders. But I really liked the looks of this buck, so I thought I would keep him and breed him back to the chestnuts and otters from which he came from, out of my herd. Well what do you know! I have produced some outstanding rabbits from this buck already!! I guess good things do come in " White Packages"!!
I want to thank the BCNDRC club for the awesome awards that he, as well as my chestnut doe "Zoe" won at the Spring Show this year. 2 BOG's, 1Best Colored Fur, and then BOB. Not to mention the top honors of winning the Gloria Fritsch Memorial Traveling Trophy Open Vs Youth in show 1 under Judge Wade Burkhalter. ( I would also like to say that the youth rabbit runner up was very nice!!) Both Judges Wade and Joel did a great job judging, and thank you to all the members who put their time into making this Show a success!
Most Sincerely, Deborah Owens
